The Credentialing Assistant coordinates medical staff functions to maintain Federal, State and other licensing regulatory standards. Create and carry out various credentialing processes in relation to physicians, medical assistants and various other healthcare professionals. They ensure that all personnel and services adhere to facility and staff policies, department guidelines, regulations and government laws. Will process applications and reappointment paperwork, checking for full completeness and accuracy. Maintain and update accurate databases for both practitioners and facilities. Credentialing Assistant must maintain records for regular auditing purposes, and stay in close communication with all appropriate practitioners to ensure that records are up-to-date and consistent. Acts as A liaison between administration and hospital medical staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
· Ability to project a professional, motivated image
· Strong organizational and analytical skills
· Possess a positive attitude
· Maintain confidentiality in all daily interactions with physicians and their representatives
· Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (MD Staff, Microsoft Word, Excel, spreadsheets, etc.)
QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Experience in a health care setting preferred-Minimum of 1 to 5 year’s experience
· Current knowledge of medical legal issues, laws, and regulatory agency requirements and standards
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Candidate must have a High school diploma
· Prefer Board certification (Certified Medical Staff Coordinator), but not necessary
