DescriptionScionHealth is recruiting for a versatile Lead Healthcare IT Field Engineer who can balance both hands-on work and remote responsibilities! This role requires travel within the Mid-American Region (Louisville – Indianapolis – Chicago), including routine onsite visits to healthcare facilities in the region, and occasional overnight stays.When not on location, the Lead Engineer will work remotely supporting the facilities within the Mid-American Region from their home office.
Job Summary
The Lead Healthcare IT Field Engineer is responsible for deploying, managing, and supporting IT infrastructure and systems within a large geographic region in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and medical offices.This role requires both technical expertise and an understanding of healthcare-specific regulations and standards, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance of healthcare IT systems.The Lead Field Engineer will frequently travel to various sites, collaborating closely with a team of engineering resources and healthcare professionals to provide technical support, maintenance, and solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of medical environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineering resources in an assigned geography
- Coordinate and assign other engineering resources in an assigned geography
- Train other engineering resources to solve problems and act as technical SME in the assigned geography for other engineering resources
- Act as an escalation point for clinical leadership and other peers across the organization
IT Infrastructure Deployment and Maintenance
- Install, configure, and support IT hardware and software, including workstations, servers, routers, and switches.
- Ensure all systems are optimized for performance, security, and compliance with healthcare industry standards.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, ensuring minimal downtime for medical operations.
Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide onsite and remote technical support for healthcare staff, resolving issues related to network connectivity, software applications, and medical devices.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex issues to prevent recurrence.
- Document support activities, troubleshooting steps, and solutions for future reference.
Compliance and Security
- Ensure all systems and processes meet HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive patient data, including encryption, firewall configurations, and regular vulnerability assessments.
- Conduct regular audits of IT systems to identify potential compliance or security risks.
Technical Liaison and Training
- Serve as primary point of contact between healthcare providers and IT departments or external vendors, facilitating communication to support operational needs.
- Train healthcare staff on using IT equipment, software applications, and following security protocols.
Project Management and Implementation
- Lead in the planning, coordination, and execution of IT projects, such as new installations or migrations.
- Provide expertise in selecting appropriate hardware and software solutions to meet healthcare facility needs.
- Manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and communicating progress to stakeholders.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in IT support, with preference for healthcare or medical environments.
- Strong understanding of healthcare industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting, Windows and Linux operating systems, and virtualization platforms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in various locations.
- Certifications in IT (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) and healthcare IT (e.g., HCISPP).
- Advanced or industry recognized certifications and training in technology, security, or healthcare.
