Job Summary

The Quality Control Analyst analyzes, validates, and reports clinical quality and patient-safety data to support regulatory reporting, organizational performance, and continuous improvement. Develops dashboards, reports, and data presentations; identifies performance trends and opportunities; and partners with leaders, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to translate data into actionable improvement strategies. Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timely submission of assigned quality data in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Collects, integrates, analyzes, and interprets clinical quality, patient-safety, and operational data from electronic health records and other approved data sources.
  • Validates data definitions, calculations, source records, and reporting logic to ensure the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and integrity of quality information.
  • Prepares and submits assigned quality and regulatory data accurately and within established deadlines; maintains supporting documentation and audit-ready records.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves dashboards, scorecards, recurring reports, and data visualizations for leaders, physicians, clinical teams, and committees.
  • Identifies trends, variances, gaps, and improvement opportunities through statistical analysis, benchmarking, and comparative performance review.
  • Translates complex data into clear findings, recommendations, and presentations appropriate for executive, physician, and clinical audiences.
  • Partners with quality, patient safety, nursing, medical staff, and operational leaders to clarify reporting needs and support performance-improvement priorities.
  • Supports or facilitates interdisciplinary quality-improvement projects, including measurement planning, baseline analysis, ongoing monitoring, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Applies appropriate analytical and process-improvement methods to evaluate interventions and determine whether changes produce sustained results.
  • Investigates data discrepancies and reporting issues, performs root-cause analysis, and coordinates corrective action with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintains current knowledge of assigned quality measures, regulatory specifications, data standards, and organizational reporting requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with hospital staff, leaders, providers, and other stakeholders while handling sensitive information appropriately.
  • Manages multiple assignments independently, prioritizes work effectively, and communicates risks or barriers that may affect deliverables or deadlines.
  • Participates in quality councils, committees, workgroups, surveys, and audits as assigned and provides data or analytical support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the organization's quality, patient-safety, and performance-improvement objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Knowledge of healthcare quality measurement, patient-safety principles, performance improvement, and regulatory reporting practices.
  • Skill in data collection, validation, analysis, statistical interpretation, visualization, and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to use electronic health record, reporting, database, and analytical applications.
  • Ability to interpret measure specifications, technical requirements, data definitions, and complex clinical or operational information.
  • Ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, solve problems, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly in written, verbal, visual, and presentation formats for varied audiences.
  • Ability to facilitate projects and collaborate effectively with leaders, physicians, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects, work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet firm deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information and other sensitive data in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, accountability, initiative, adaptability, and commitment to data integrity and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, health information management, data analytics, statistics, business, or a related field (Preferred)
  • Associate's Degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, health information management, data analytics, statistics, business, or a related field (Required)

Licenses/Certifications

  • Other: Relevant quality, healthcare quality, process-improvement, or analytics certification Upon Hire (Preferred)

Experience

  • 2+ years experience in data analysis, statistical analysis, quality reporting, performance improvement, or a related healthcare field (Preferred)
  • Prior Experience working with electronic health record data and clinical quality measures (Preferred)
