Job Summary

  • Support therapists and therapist assistants in the treatment of inpatients and outpatients. Assists secretaries and the department staff in performing administrative support and general office duties
  • Possess appropriate education, experience, and training to assure competency as delineated in the “Age Specific Competence Assessment”
  • Responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services
  • Provides material supply services for a variety of departments as required

Essential Functions

  • Performs administrative and receptionist functions including screening calls and visitors, messages, scheduling appointments, registering patients, and collecting appropriate personal and financial data
  • Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment
  • Transports patient to/from rehabilitation department
  • Performs minor dressing changes under the direction of a physical therapists and/or physical therapy assistant
  • Communicates pertinent clinical information to the licensed therapist (PT, OT, ST or therapist assistant) responsible for the patient
  • Assists director, clinical coordinator, and his/her designates in activities and initiatives that will enable department and hospital to meet its goals and objectives
  • Participates in the hospitals and department’s CQI activities; assists in developing and maintaining compliance with standards established by accrediting agencies

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent - Preferred

Licenses/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Preferred

Experience

  • Previous experience in patient care - Preferred
