Job Summary

  • The Menu Clerk is responsible for accurately preparing and maintaining menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and therapeutic diet requirements. This role supports the dietary and nutrition team by ensuring that all menu-related tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly menus based on dietary guidelines and physician-prescribed therapeutic diets
  • Collaborate with dietitians and kitchen staff to ensure menu accuracy and appropriateness
  • Enter and maintain menu data using computer systems and dietary software
  • Ensure all menus comply with state and federal regulations, including food safety standards
  • Communicate with patients, residents, or clients to clarify dietary needs and preferences
  • Assist in the coordination of special dietary requests and menu modifications
  • Maintain organized records of menus, diet orders, and related documentation

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Full understanding of therapeutic diets (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, renal, etc.). Proficient computer skills, including experience with dietary software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Pay Range: $21.00 - $22.44/Hour

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit (if required by state law)

Experience

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or food service setting
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary regulations in long-term care or hospital environments
